Water infrastructures constructions for rural communities in Akkar district

Project objectives   
The overall objective of the present project is to improve the population’s living conditions affected by the Syrian crisis in the Akkar district. 


Project  Summary 
The project targets Borj El Arab village in Akkar district, suffering from high urgent needs in terms of access to safe water, because there is no existing water supply network. Through this project, a water network will be constructed with the help of the local population. 95% of the houses in the village will be connected to the water supply network, granting the residents access to a good quantity and quality of water. 


Activities achieved

  • A piece of land has been granted by Municipality of Borj El Arab to construct the borehole and water reservoir. 
  • 3 out of 5 tenders have been completed.
  • Design of the new network is ongoing.
